Your first car-free Downtown Orlando outing: start with Lake Eola
Choose one park, check your starting point, and use official transit information to build a Downtown plan that includes your journey home.

For a first car-free outing in Downtown Orlando, keep the plan small: choose Lake Eola Park as your main stop, work out how to reach it from your actual starting point, and decide how you will get home. You can add another stop if the connections work for you. [1] [2]
1. Give your outing one clear destination
The City of Orlando lists Lake Eola Park at 512 East Washington Street and describes a 0.9-mile sidewalk around the lake. That distance is the lakeside loop, not the distance from your hotel or a transit stop. Walk as much or as little of it as suits your visit. [1]
Check the city’s park page before leaving for opening hours, activities, and event notices. If you want to rent a swan boat or attend an event, check that activity’s own times and arrangements. A park visit does not need to include a paid activity. [1]

2. See whether LYMMO fits your trip
LYNX describes LYMMO as a fare-free Downtown Orlando circulator. Its official LYMMO guide lists Lake Eola among the destinations served by the Grapefruit Line, also identified as Link 62. Use that as a place to start checking the map, rather than as a boarding instruction. [2] [3]
Your starting point may require another service, a transfer, or a different option. Check the line, direction, boarding stop, and the last part of the trip to the park for your day and time. Do not assume that a Downtown circulator reaches your accommodation or that other services are also fare-free. [2] [3]

3. Plan the way back before you set out
LYMMO lines have different operating hours. The official guide also notes that the Lime Line has no weekend or holiday service. Check the timetable for the line you intend to use in both directions, especially if you plan to stay into the evening. [2]
A park being open does not mean your return service is still running. Choose a likely departure time, check any transfers, and leave room for the connection between the park and your stop. Recheck the plan if you add a meal or another destination. [1] [2]
At our October 20 check (Miami / Eastern time), LYNX’s alerts included event-related detour notices affecting the Grapefruit Line. Read the current notices before choosing your stop; a route map alone does not show every temporary change. [4]

4. Keep a short before-you-go checklist

- Confirm the park and any activity are open when you plan to visit.
- Check your starting address, intended service, boarding stop, and direction.
- Review service alerts and your return options for the expected finish time.
- Look at the final walking connection and any access needs that matter to you.
- Keep the official park information and transit map handy.
Your best connection depends on where you start, when you travel, and your access needs. Check those details for your own trip, rather than assuming a park address or route name answers every part of the journey. [1] [2]
